Utilizing Experience vs. Having Experience
There has been a lot of talk about experience for the upcoming Presidential election. Although it can be a good thing, having experience doesn't necessarily mean a candidate is the best person for the job. If experience is so important shouldn't we be considering Dick Cheney for President? On top of his long political career he will have served two terms as Vice President. He probably has more experience than several candidates put together and more than any candidate once you factor in the time as Vice President. If experience is a high priority for you this election consider this question, would you vote for Dick Cheney?
There is a down side to a highly experienced candidate in that he or she may be less likely to hire experienced and qualified personnel for important cabinet positions. Let's face it, there is no candidate or anyone for that matter who knows everything about everything. Someone who feels they do will most likely fill important positions with friends and people to whom they owe favors. Someone who knows they don't know everything will most likely hire qualified personnel and utilize their experience. If we are to get America moving in the right direction we can't elect a President who will hire friends and those to whom they owe favors. Having experience is nice, but utilizing experience is even better.
